European Valuation Standards 2008

At the last General Assembly of The European Group of Valuers' Associations (TEGoVA) on 18 November 2006, the decision was taken to draft a new set of "core" European Valuation Standards to be issued in 2008. In this connection, TEGoVA has commissioned Professor David Mackmin of Sheffield Hallam University, to prepare a first draft of the new European Valuation Standards. Following a recent consultation of the TEGoVA membership and discussions at a working party in Edinburgh, the consensus seems to be in favour of the EVS continuing to be in line with International Valuation Standards published by the IVSC albeit with a European style and emphasis.

The General Assembly also confirmed the proposed implementation of a new "Recognised European Valuer" scheme to replace the unpopular Approved by TEGoVA Euro Norm Certification system which has been withdrawn. The Polish Federation of Valuers' Association (PFVA) together with TEGoVA's French and Italian member associations have committed to a pilot project.
